DIY: Depot Your Lipsticks

I'm an organize freak. And as I've mentioned before I like to be able to visually see what I have so that I can use things more. So I decided to depot my lipsticks (except for the ones with special edition packaging such as my Marilyn Monroe and Archie's Girls lippies. Below I give you a step by step as clearly as I possibly could of how I did it so that you can too if you're interested. Have fun!

Materials:

Alcohol 91%
Cotton balls
Bead landing craft organizer from micheals.
Wilton 9in Tapered Spatula also from Micheals
Clear tape
Blow dryer
Hand Sanitizer
Clean towel
A glove
Cosmetic sanitizer whipes (purchased at IMATS)
Little plastic, I guess you would say spatula. (Purchased at IMATS)
Labels
Q-Tips

These are the materials that I used, you can use whatever works for you.

Make sure that your hands are clean before you start.

Wet cotton ball with alcohol and sanitize your spatula ( or whatever your using to dig out your lipstick), and the container.

I sanitized my lipstick with my cosmetic sanitizer whipes, but you can dip your lipstick into a bowl of alcohol for a few seconds and let it air dry.

Use the spatula to cut off your lipstick.

With the tip of the spatula dig out the rest from the tube.

Put on and sanitize your glove.

Use your thumb to a smush down the lipstick spreading it around the container.

Heat the lipstick holding the blow drier a few inches away from the container.

You'll have some gaps on around the bottom…

Once it begins to liquify a bit use your spatula to fill them in. CAUTION: The container will be super hot.

Scrap of the remains on the spatula back in the container. And re-heat.

Once it's pretty liquidy,  I lightly tap the container down  on the table so that the top surface becomes perfectly flat. (Again the container will be super hot)

*Be careful not to tilt the container before it dries, otherwise it will shift and you will loose the flat surface*

Once it's dry, use a Q-tip( dipped in alcohol) to clean any imperfections.

Remove the label from the lipstick using a blade (or what you have).

Instead of placing it directly on the container, I place it on a label first and write down the date that I purchased it because as you know makeup expires. Put a clear tape over your label to seal and protect it.

And there you have it. How I depotted all of my lippies.

These took forever to do but it was worth it. Now my lipsticks are better organized, I can actually see the color instead of trying to picture it, and I can carry it easily in my purse. But the best part is that I can turn in  my empty containers to the back 2 M•A•C program and get free lippies!

(For every six empty container that you turn in, you get a free lipstick) <3

Let me know what you guys think!

CVS, Ulta & M•A•C Haul

CVS:

1. Neutrogena Naturals: Acne Cream Cleanser

As some of you may already know, I'm currently struggling with acne. So, I'm trying new products hoping to get it under control. A friend of mine introduced me to Neutrogena Naturals Fresh Cleansing + Makeup Remover which I absolutely love. So I decided to try more products from their naturals line. I will do a blog post and update you guys on wether or not these products are working for me.

2. Neutrogena Naturals: Multi-Vitamin Nourishing Moisturizer

It says that it replenishes essential skin nutrients plus provides continuous moisture nourishment throughout the day. Fortified with vitamins B, C, E and anti-oxidant omega bionutrients, this moisturizer is clinically proven to boost skin's defense against dullness and roughness, leaving it naturally radiant, healthier and younger looking today and in the future.

Great! Lets try it! And for $15.29 it better work.

3. Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask

This was recommended to me by a friend who was also struggling with acne. I'm mainly going to use this as a mask. I'm also going to try steaming while having it on so that it can really penetrate.

Ulta:

1. Ecotools: Deluxe Fan

I'm a part time earth saver :] so I love Eco-friendly, cruelty free, and made from recycled material products. And it was only $6.99 :]  I plan on using this brush for contouring and highlighting with powder products.

2. NYX Jumbo Lip Pencil: 718 Maroon

Beautiful color for the fall! I love NYX cosmetics. They have inexpensive, good quality products.

3. Rimmel London Kate Moss: 101

4. Maybelline:  Clean Express Makeup Remover Towelettes

5. Neutrogena: Rapid Clear Treatment Pads

This was also recommended to me by a friend   *fingers crossed*

M•A•C:

Lippies from the Indulge Collection:

Beautiful fall colors! Sweet Succulence looks a bit scary in the lipstick tube, but once you swatch it, it comes off as a plum color. <3

Ipsy Glam Bag: August 2013

Hey Beauties! Excited to open my first Ipsy Glam Bag! Like BirchBox, Ipsy is a beauty subscription. But, unlike BirchBox, Ipsy products come in a gorgeous bag which I can use as a makeup bag, travel bag, etc. love it! Lets get started:

First product is a Lash Blast Booster Mascara in the color Blackest Black by Pixi. This mascara is cute, compact, and perfect for travel.

Second product is a Lip Balm in Cherry by Noya. I'm not usually into scented lip balms, but I'm loving the cherry scent.

Third product is a Jojoba Charcoal Facial Scrub by Micheal Todd. Super excited for this product, cannot wait to try it.

Fourth product is a Shimmer Powder in Bronze by MICA Beauty.

My lighting and camera phone are not doing this color justice. It is absolutely beautiful.

Last product is a Cream Blush by NYX in the color Hot Pink.

As you can see the blush is really moist. It is my first cream blush and the color is a little scary. I'm going to have to play with this before I step out into the world looking crazy lOl.

I was kind of bummed that I didn't get the Urban Decay Lipstick or the SmashBox Photo Ready Primer. But I'm over it and content with the products that I did get. It is always good to try something new.

BirchBox: August 2013

GoOd Morning Beauties! I received my second (well technically third) BirchBox subscription about a week ago. I waited to open it so that I can share my excitement with you all. So let's see what's inside!

Derma e
Hyaluronic Hydrating Mist

What: This all-natural antiaging mist restores skin with green tea, vitamin C, and aloe.

I was a bit disappointed at first with this product because it says that it's for dry-normal skin. I stated on my profile that I have oily skin so why would they send me this product? But, there are times when a new acne product over-dries my skin so I guess this would be perfect for that. And it has a good scent to it.

EVOLYh
Ultrashine Moisture Conditioner

What: Made from 20 different herbs, this nourishing formula delivers silky, obedient strands.

stila
Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick

What: long lasting liquid lipstick in a wearable red that glides on like gloss but stays put like a stain.

I love it! Can't want to wear this!

Whish
Exfoliating Body Wash

What: a coconut-rich scrub that brightens and exfoliates with sugar cane and bamboo powder.

Whish
Hair inhibiting Deodorant Swipes

What: From the shaving pros at whish, these wipes tackle and slow hair growth in one swipe.

This product is interesting. A deodorant that slows down hair growth? Sounds great! Wish I had more than one sample to judge wether it does what it claims to do.

Accessory Organizer

Hey beauties! So, one thing about me: I am an out of site out of mind kind of girl. If things like accesories, makeup, clothes, etc are not in my sight, then I forget I have them. For that reason, I organized my bracelets and necklaces so that they are visually accessible.

I bought a paper towel holder at Family Dollar for $6 and I stacked all of my bracelets on it.

I also bought clear push pins and used them to hang all of my necklaces on my closet door.

Both of these are easy, inexpensive ways to get a little organized. What do you guys think? How do you organize your accesories?

BirchBox: July 2013

Finally received my first BirchBox (brown box at the top). I also ordered the BirchBox For CEW Choice Awards Box (orange box at the bottom), which features award winning "drugstore" products.

For those who don't know what a BirchBox is, it's a monthly subscription in which you receive samples to full sized products and beauty extra's hand picked according to your profile. In a BirchBox you will find information on the theme and purpose of that month's box, and it will also tell you what each product is, how to use it, and the full size retail price.

Number 4:
Super Comb Prep & Protect

What: A sulfate-free leave-in conditioner that safeguards color and protects against UV rays.

I recently colored my hair so this is a fitting product.

100% Pure:
Nourishing Body Cream

What: Think green juice. This organic formula is full of anti-aging ingredients and concentrated moisture.

I'm big on lotion. I love having super soft, silky skin so I look forward to seeing what this can do. And it will be my first time using a vegan product.

BirchBox:
Bobby Pins

I love these! I am a bobby pin freak. When my hair is a mess and I don't have time or money to get it done, I bobby pin the heck out of it and turn it into a stylish mess.

Benta Berry:
G-1 Moisturizing Face Cream

What: A French best-seller, this cream both hydrates and purifies, thanks to blueberry and dead nettle.

Certain areas of my face have been really dry due to some new acne products that I'm trying, so I'm hoping that this will solve my problem.

Benefit Cosmetics:
Girl Meets Pearl

What: This easy-to-apply highlighter gives skin a radiant finish.

I've wanted a liquid highlighter for a while so I'm excited about this product.

Olay:
Pro-X Spot Fading Treatment

What: A fragrance-free serum that nixes dark spots and discoloration without drying skin.

I am currently suffering terribly from acne. I admit that in the past I use to pick my pimples. Now that my scars are getting bad I fight the urge to pick them. But even then, they still leave a horrible scar on my face.  Keeping my fingers crossed for this product.

Nivea:
A Kiss Of Olive Oil & Lemon Moisture Rich Lip Care

What: Vitamin E, olive oil, and lemon team up in this delicious smelling, uncommonly hydrating balm.

My lips get seriously chapped especially in the winter. I seriously have some type of lip moisture in each of my bags. I'm a Nivea fan so this is a great addition.

Simple:
Revitalizing Eye Roll-On

What: A pH-balanced eye serum that perks up tired eyes with cooling cucumber and vitamin B5.

Yes! I need this in my life. My under eyes can use some perking up.

Burt's Bees:
Ultimate Care Hand Cream

What: Ultra-nourishing hand cream loaded with baobab and watermelon seed oils.

Just like chapped lips I don't like having ashy hands. So hand lotion in every bag is also a must.

Revlon:
Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain
in Honey Douce

What: A retractable chubby crayon that delivers intense moisture and shinny, vivid pigment.

I already own two of these balm stain so of course I'm happy to have more.

 L'OrĂ©al Paris:
Infallible Eyeshadow

What: A 24-hour, waterproof eye shadow that ties you intensely concentrated, shimmery color

Excited to play with this eyeshadow. First drugstore eyeshadow that I try.

I really love every product in this box.  Alot of them fit my needs and I can't wait to try them.

PS: If you are not a BirchBox subscriber and this post encourages you to subscribe, I would greatly appreciate it if you use a referral link so that I can redeem points. Thanx!
